About Us

My grandfather, Sylve Carlson, was a Swedish immigrant who arrived in the US in the early 1900's. He met my grandmother, Margit Andersen, who was also a Swedish immigrant. The two married and purchased the 100 acres to begin their new life together.

Sylve built the apartment for my great aunt, Asta. When my grandparents passed away, we wanted to keep the property in the family. Recently, we decided to renovate the apartment to recapture the beauty of European design. Sylve and Margit were quiet, warm, sincere people, and everyone who walked into their home felt instantly relaxed and welcomed. A Hint of Europe strives to continue our family tradition and extend those feelings to you as our guests.
